On Friday April 30, at 5:45 p.m. the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 75 and 420th Street, one mile south of Sioux Center, IA.
Harold Westphal, age 85, of Ireton, IA was driving a 2017 Ford Escape eastbound on 420th Street; he stopped at the stop sign at Highway 75. Edgar Bocanegra, age 31, of Omaha, NE was driving a 2005 Honda Odyssey southbound on Highway 75. Wetsphal entered the intersection and the two struck.
No injuries were reported
The Ford sustained approximately $4,000 in damage. The Honda sustained an estimated $3,000 in damage.
Westphal was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign. Bocanegra was cited for driving a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department.
