Traffic violations lead to arrest – March 20

On Saturday, March 20, at 10:06 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Nick Te Slaa, age 22, of Boyden, IA.

The arrest stemmed from an incident where an off-duty deputy sheriff observed Te Slaa operating an unlicensed dirt bike motorcycle in a dangerous manner in Boyden. When the deputy confronted Te Slaa about the traffic violations, Te Slaa assaulted the deputy. During the course of the arrest, Te Slaa assaulted another officer and caused damage to one of the patrol vehicles.

Te Slaa was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with careless driving, operating an unlicensed motor vehicle, operating a motorcycle without a valid motorcycle license, two counts of assault on a peace officer, interference with official acts and criminal mischief causing damage.
