On Tuesday, March 2, at 1:55 p.m. the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 60, four and one-half miles southwest of Orange City, IA.
Dinah Ter Horst, age 89, of Sioux Center, IA was driving a 2006 Dodge Caravan southbound on Highway 60. Keith Maassen, age 55, of Spencer, IA was driving a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country minivan southbound on Highway 60 behind Ter Horst when Maassen struck the Dodge.
Both drivers and two passengers were transported by ambulance services from Alton and Orange City to Orange City Area Health for treatment of minor injuries.
The Dodge sustained an approximately $5,000 in damage. The Chrysler sustained an estimated $6,000 in damage.
Maassen was cited for following too close.
The sheriffs’ office was assisted by the Orange City Fire Department, Orange City Ambulance, Alton Ambulance and Iowa State Patrol.
