On Tuesday, February 9, at 1:00 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 75 and 360th Street, two miles north of Sioux Center, IA.
Nicholas Vande Kieft, age 34, of Sioux Center was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup northbound on Highway 75; he stopped for oncoming vehicles before attempting to turn left onto 360th Street. David Cameron, age 60, of Herman, NE was driving a 2019 Jeep Compass northbound on Highway 75 when he struck Vande Kieft on the roadway.
Vande Kieft was transported by Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of minor injuries. A passenger in the Chevrolet sought medical attention on his own.
The Chevrolet sustained approximately $8,000 in damage. The Jeep sustained an estimated $18,000 in damage.
Cameron was cited for following too close.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Fire Department and Sioux Center Ambulance.
