On Friday, January 29, at 11:32 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 10, two and one-quarter miles west of Orange City, IA.
Katrina Van Lingen, age 27, of Sioux Center, IA was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala westbound on Highway 10. Ethan Blauw, age 18, of Maple Grove, MN, was driving a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on Highway 10. Blauw crossed the center of the roadway and the two struck. After the accident, both vehicles entered the north ditch.
Van Lingen, Blauw, and a passenger in the Volkwagen reported minor injuries, were treated by emergency medical technicians at the scene and declined further medical attention.
The Chevrolet sustained approximately $3,000 in damage. The Volkwagen sustained an estimated $6,000 in damage.
Blauw was cited for driving the wrong way on a two-way roadway.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Orange City Police Department, Orange City Fire Department, and Orange City Ambulance.
