Accident leads to disturbance, remains under investigation – November 22

On Sunday, November 22, at  2:12 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred near the intersection of 360th Street, 10 miles southwest of Rock Valley, IA.

Tanner Douma, age 25, of Ireton, IA was driving a 2006 Ford F-250 eastbound on 360th Street; he stopped for the traffic signal at the river bridge. William Liston, age 50, of Ireton was driving a 2016 Kia Sorento eastbound on 360th Street when he struck the Ford. Following the accident, a disturbance occurred between the drivers and occupants of the vehicles. Liston left the area but was later located at his residence by the Hawarden Police Department.

No injuries were reported.

The Ford sustained approximately $1,000 in damage. The Kia sustained an estimated $3,000 in damage.

The accident and disturbance remains under investigation and alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hawarden Police Department.
