On Sunday, August 23, at 3:23 p.m, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Cherry Avenue, five miles south of Hawarden, IA; upon further investigation, the accident actually happened at approximately 11:00 a.m.
Derek Ulmer, age 23, of Hawarden was driving a 2002 Buick Le Sabre southbound on Cherry Avenue when reported that he lost control of the vehicle, entered the west ditch, struck a traffic sign and trees.
Ulmer reported minor injuries at sought medical attention on his own.
The Buick sustained approximately $2,000 in damage.
Ulmer reported minor injuries.
Ulmer was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, striking a fixture on a highway and no motor vehicle liability insurance.
