On Saturday, May 16, at 5:55 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 60 and Kingbird Avenue, one mile north of Alton, IA.
Erick Beltran, age 34, of Sioux Center, IA was driving a 2016 Honda Civic southbound on Kingbird Avenue. Derik Lampe, age 51, of Le Mars, IA was driving a 2010 Chrysler Sebring westbound on Highway 60. Beltran failed to yield from the stop sign, entered the intersection and the two struck.
Two passengers in the Honda were transported by ambulance services from Orange City and Alton to the Orange City Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The Honda sustained approximately $8,000 in damage. The Chrysler sustained an estimated $12,000 in damage.
Beltran was cited for failing to yield from a stop sign.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Alton Ambulance, Alton Fire Department, Orange City Ambulance and the Orange City Police Department.
