Commercial motor vehicle accident – May 12

On Tuesday May 12, at 8:08 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a commercial motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of 390th and Cherry Avenue, seven miles northeast of Hawarden, IA.

Steven Tobol, age 54, of Ronon, MT was driving a 1995 Kenworth T600 semi tractor pulling a livestock trailer northbound on Cherry Avenue in when he encountered a curve in the roadway, lost control of the vehicle and entered the ditch at 390th Street.; the truck and trailer jackknifed.

No injuries were reported.

The Kenworth sustained approximately $4,000 damage. The trailer was not damaged.

Tobol was cited for failure to maintain control.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Sioux County Conservation Officers.
