On Saturday, March 28, at 10:19 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 75, two miles north of Sioux Center, IA.
Leticia De Zamora, age 51, of Sioux Center was driving a 2007 Cadillac Escalade southbound on Highway 75. Victor Urbina, age 17, of Rock Valley, IA was driving a 1997 Ford Expedition northbound on Highway 75. During a period of blowing snow, Urbina entered into the southbound lane and struck De Zamora.
De Zamora and Urbina were both transported by Sioux Center Ambulance to the Sioux Center Health Center for treatment of their injuries.
The Cadillac sustained approximately $9,000 in damage. The Ford sustained an estimated $9,000 in damage.
Urbina was cited for driving on the wrong side of a two lane highway.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Fire Department, Sioux Center Ambulance, Sioux Center Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
