On Tuesday, February 18, at 2:59 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 400th Street, two miles west of Sioux Center, IA.
Randall Tietgen, age 65, of Sioux Center was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Goldfinch Avenue. Nerik Montes-Topete, age 19, of Hawarden, IA was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier westbound on 400th Street; the two struck in the intersection.
Tietgen and Montes-Topete both reported minor injuries and each sought medical treatment on their own.
The Silverado sustained approximately $9,000 in damage. The Cavalier sustained an estimated $3,000 in damage.
Tietgen was cited for failing to obey a stop sign. Montes-Topete was cited for failing to have motor vehicle accident liability insurance.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center ambulance.
