Fire destroys farm building *Photos* – December 2

On Sunday, December 2, at 7:42 p.m., Sioux County Communications received a 911 report of a building on fire at a farm property on 1760 300th Street, eight miles west of Rock Valley, IA.

The Rock Valley Fire Department responded to the fire and upon their arrival, discovered a machine shed fully engulfed by fire; mutual assistance from other area fire departments was requested.

No injuries were reported.

The building contained hay bales, dairy equipment and no livestock were present or injured. Damages are estimated at $750,000.

The Rock Valley Fire Department was assisted by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office and fire Departments from the cities of Hull, Doon, Inwood, Sioux Center and Hudson, SD.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Rock Valley Fire Chief.
