One arrested and others charged following traffic stop – September 23

On Monday, September 23, at 7:10 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Graham Mayrose, age 18, of Orange City, IA, and charged other vehicle occupants for alcohol violations.

The charges stemmed from a traffic stop that occurred on Sunday, September 22, at 2:58 p.m., at the intersection of Cambier Drive and 460th Street in Alton, IA.

As the deputy stopped the vehicle, Mayrose, a passenger, ran from it. The deputy discovered alcohol in possession of the driver and remaining passengers in the vehicle. Officers later located another vehicle came to pick Mayrose up from a different location; that vehicle was stopped by officers of the Orange City Police Department and Mayrose once again fled from that vehicle on foot and was not immediately located.

As a result of the original traffic stop, Gage Fisher, age 18, of Alton was cited for a .02 alcohol violation (blood-alcohol concentration of greater than .02% but less than .08%) and possession of alcohol under the age of 21. Passengers in vehicle that were also charged with possession of alcohol under the age of 21 were Cole Vande Brake, age 18, of Orange City and Mariah Aardema, age 18, of Alton. Mayrose was later later found at his residence; he was charged with interference with official acts and underage possession of alcohol.
