Each year since 1944, the third week of September has been recognized as National Farm Safety and Health Week. This annual promotion initiated by the National Safety Council has been proclaimed as such by each sitting U.S. President since Franklin D. Roosevelt.
During this week, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office urges all of our area farmers to take the time to mentally prepare for their own safety on fall farm operations. On many farms, younger children play a vital role in helping their farm families on the farm operation. Please take the extra time to teach them the importance of farm safety.
Below is a good series of short videos made available by the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS), the agricultural partner of the National Safety Council. These videos cover a range of farm-related topics to help everyone get into the safety mindset as fall harvest is around the corner.
