On Thursday, August 1, at 11:36 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of 420th Street and Highway 75, one-quarter mile south of Sioux Center, IA.
Charles Hoefling, age 57, of Sioux City, IA was driving a 2000 Sterling straight truck northbound on Highway 75. Halie Rus, age 21, of Sioux Center was driving a 2017 Ford Fusion southbound of Highway 75. Hoefling attempted to turn left onto 420th Street and the two struck.
Rus and a 14 year old passenger in the Ford reported minor injuries and sought medical attention on their own.
The Sterling sustained approximately $15,000 in damage. The Ford sustained approximately $15,000 in damage.
Hoefling was cited for failing to yield when making a left turn.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Fire Department and Sioux Center Ambulance.
