On Wednesday, July 24, at 12:13 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of 440th Street, one-quarter mile northeast of Hawarden, IA.
Gerald Bell, age 75, of Hawarden, IA was driving a 2000 Buick Le Sabre eastbound on 440th Street when he encountered a curve in the roadway, lost control of the vehicle, entered the north ditch and rolled.
Bell was transported by the Hawarden Ambulance to the Hawarden Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The Buick sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.
Bell was cited for failing to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hawarden Police Department, Hawarden Ambulance, and Hawarden Fire Department.
