On Tuesday, May 7, at 5:55 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection on Highway 75 and Highway 10, four miles south of Sioux Center, IA.
Ronald Vander Ploeg, age 65, of Orange City, IA was driving a 2013 Ford F‐150 westbound on Highway 10. He entered the northbound turn lane and stopped for the stop sign at Highway 75. Michael Blezien, age 66, of Orange City was driving a 2010 Ford Explorer westbound on Highway 10. Blezien entered the northbound turn lane behind Vander Ploeg and struck the F‐150.
No injuries were reported.
The F‐150 sustained approximately $5,000 in damage. The Explorer sustained approximately $4,000 in damage.
Blezien was cited for following too close.
