On Monday, May 6, at 4:14 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 75, three and one‐half miles north of Sioux Center, IA.
Matthew Hulstein, age 40, of Sioux Center, IA was driving a 1998 Agco‐Allis farm tractor pulling a field cultivator southbound on Highway 75; he stopped for oncoming vehicles before attempting a left turn onto a residential driveway. Catalicio Martin‐Martin, age 18, of Orange City, IA was driving a 2011 Kia Forte southbound on Highway 75 behind Hulstein when he struck the field cultivator. Martin‐Martin left the area and was located at a business in Sioux Center by an officer of the Sioux Center Police Department a short time later.
No injuries were reported.
The cultivator sustained approximately $1,000 in damage. The Kia sustained approximately $3,000 in damage.
Martin‐Martin was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and following too close.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department.
